Today is Mother’s Day. A holiday dedicated to celebrating the lives of mothers. This is my second post in a series of blogs that will be about other people and organizations. Since it is mothers day what better thing is there to write about than my mom? I know that your mom is probably pretty awesome, most moms are, but the reality is that my mom truly is the best.
My mom is an amazing woman who loves God and other people. Her heart is huge for hurting women. She has been through a whole bunch of garbage during her life and yet she is still a brilliant pearl amongst all the oysters life has thrown her way. I love my mom and for most of my life she has been my best friend. She has done so much for my brother and me over the years it would be near impossible to communicate how much I value her. But here are just a few things that my mom did for me that I will never forget . . .
. . . staying up late with her playing card games in the camper
. . . the day she taught me how to drive a manual transmission
. . . all the mornings she got up early to pray for my brother and me
. . . her willingness to allow me to try things
. . . the way she held me when I left for Africa and embraced me when I returned
. . . all the countless hours spent cheering for me on the sidelines
. . . that no matter what time it was I could always talk to her and still can
. . . the day she rescued Joel, Paul and me in Minnesota
. . . I will never forget how much she loves me and how much she cares
Moms are amazing, they give so much and love so deeply. My mom is no exception to that. I am so blessed to have a mom who has invested in me to the best I could be, encouraged me to be who God made me to be and entrusted me to live my life to the fullest. My mom has sacrificed so much for my brother and me. I will never forget her willingness to set her dreams aside to provide for my brother and me. I love you mom. Happy Mothers Day!
