Paul McCartney

There are some of you that will never read this and should. There are some people out there who have no idea who Paul McCartney is. Hard to believe that is possible, but I am not mad at you. I was one of those people. Then I met my wife. She educated me for months. Then word came that the former member of the Beatles was finally going to play a show in the United States again. I knew we needed to go. It would be a dream come true for my wife.

This picture sums up the experience we had going to the Paul McCartney concert on April 19, 2009 at The Joint inside The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This sums up the excitement of the whole night!

“Well, we danced through the night,
And we held each other tight,
And before too long I fell in love with her.
Now, I’ll never dance with another
When I saw her standing there”

It has been a week since we went to the show and it still brings a smile to my face. I can only imagine it will for a long time to come. McCartney played for a for 2.5 hours with including a 2 part, 7 song encore. The whole show was nothing short of phenomenal. If you had never heard of Paul McCartney and I gave you my ticket you would have walked out a fan. As one guy said as I was walking out, “It was like he was performing for 100,000 people.” I just kept smiling and singing and dancing. It was an amazing day.

These were just some of the highlights from a night filled with amazing moments:

McCartney played tributes to both George Harrison and John Lennon.

For “Yesterday” McCartney used the same guitar he used when he played the same song with the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1965. There was personal stories from Paul about Hendrix, “Elvis & Frank” and many more. One of my funnier moments is when I grabbed the two Russian guys (yes, 2 guys flew from Moscow to Vegas just to see Paul!) standing next to us during “Back in the USSR.” They were laughing and singing and enjoying every moment. It was one of the greatest nights of my life.
