Let’s Make a Deal – Part 2

Back in December my wife, my mother and me all attempted to get on the daytime game show, Let’s Make a Deal with Wayne Brady. When we arrived the taping the show was canceled. Although my mom could not join us just over a week later my wife and I went back to try to get on the show. Well it worked! Not only did we get to sit in a prime spot in the audience, but we also got on the show! Throughout the whole interview process and waiting in line I felt like my wife was going to get on the show. Her radiant face, out going personality and pregnant belly were too irresistible. I thought they would just pick her. Well too my surprise we both got picked!

After making 3 deals and going to commercial Wayne Brady picked my wife and I to play a piggy bank game. Prior to getting into the studio audience my wife and I discussed a plan just in case we got picked. The premise of the show is that the host offers you a door # or some type of envelope with money. We had watched the show enough to know that people get caught up in the moment and make bad decisions. With my history of bad financial decisions I knew we needed to have a set limit of how much money we would stop at. We agreed on $500. Anything more than that we would stop. Anything less we would trade or go on.

The game we got picked for had a sliding scale from $1 to $10,000. For every $1 bill you found in a piggy bank you moved up the scale. Immediately Ashley was eliminated from the game, but I was able to play and win $1,000!!! The adrenaline in me took over and I wanted to keep going, but when I looked down at my beautiful pregnant wife all I could think about was that baby and all the diapers. One thousand dollars can buy quite a few diapers! So I called it quits.

I sat down elated and Wayne cut to commercial. During the commercial break he asked me if I was wearing shorts under my bunny onesie, I said yeah and went back to celebrating with my wife. “OH MY GOODNESS! WE JUST WON $1000! WOO HOO!” I said to her. We were both so excited. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect this to happen next. (The video that was embedded on the CBS website has since been removed and is no longer linked here)

Wayne bought the bunny suit for $300! After the next commercial he came back out wearing the suit! I could not believe it. It was hilarious, surreal and amazing all at once. By the end of the day we had won $1,300 and it was one of the best days I can remember. I am so blessed to have a wife who is adventurous even when she is pregnant and to live in a town that has so many fun things to do. Thanks CBS for an amazing day and a wonderful experience.
